Oklahoma Archivists Association

2021 Archives Bazaar

About

The Oklahoma Archivists Association hosted the 3rd biennial Archives Bazaar as a fully virtual event. This online showcase featured a wide range of archival collections and institutions from across the state, all highlighting Oklahoma’s rich and diverse history. The primary goal of the Bazaar was to inform and engage the public about the value of archives in Oklahoma.

The theme for the 2021 Bazaar was “Archives in Popular Culture.” Filming of Killers of the Flower Moon was underway, and many Oklahoma archives had played a key role in the creation of the book that inspired the film. Author David Grann conducted research using materials held in Oklahoma institutions. Participating archives were encouraged to share any items from their collections that had been cited or featured in books, articles, films, or television. While participation in the theme was optional, the Bazaar aimed to highlight how historians, writers, and other content creators have drawn inspiration from Oklahoma’s archival resources.

Each participating organization also completed an institutional profile, providing basic details to help the public learn how to visit their facilities or access their collections for research.
