      Position Summary
      This position is responsible for the safety, security, care and documentation of the historical artifacts, ephemera, media and documents owned by the American Motorcyclist Association and the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame, as well as assisting with research, exhibition and creative interpretation on an as-needed basis, including, but not limited to administrative support, procurement assistance, event displays and customer relations. This position reports to the Director of Creative Services.

      Job Responsibilities
      Loans and collections inventory

      Organize and maintain all record-keeping forms and systems for loans, inventory, conservation, storage, documentation of objects, accessories, etc.
      Supervise all incoming and outgoing loans, including working with lenders and borrowers; prepare and maintain loan agreements; oversee crating, shipping and insurance arrangements for exhibitions loans; create and manage condition reports; work with curatorial/exhibition staff during installation and dismantling of exhibitions; monitor and maintain related security issues, paperwork and database records.
      Manage the physical donation process, including paperwork, collecting documentation, sorting and filing related materials and ensuring vehicle titles and/or ownership records are maintained appropriately.
      Create and maintain collections documentation, files and database.
      Maintain an accurate inventory of the museum’s collections and exhibition records.
      Organize and maintain historical artifacts, memorabilia and documentation owned by the AMA, including, but not limited to, photography (digital, prints and slides), rulebooks, historical race results, competition licenses, magazine archives, etc.
      Ensure the care, conservation, preservation, and proper storage of collections and objects.
      Monitor upkeep of all collections storage areas; work with maintenance and cleaning contractors as needed.
      Develop and implement collections policies and procedures.
      Communications

      Maintain and update contact information for AMA Hall of Famers and/or their representatives.
      Maintain and update contact information for motorcycle and memorabilia donors and lenders and/or their representatives.
      Communicate with external and internal contacts regarding requests to work with AMA Hall of Famers, collections donors, exhibit lenders and research-related inquiries for AMA staff.
      Exhibits

      Assist with exhibit maintenance and display areas, such as setup, cleaning, presentation, vehicle maintenance, etc.
      Coordinate transportation of bikes and memorabilia, including freight quotes and shipment, insurance, lender identification and loading/unloading.
      Assist in the brainstorming of exhibits, editorial, website and marketing material content.
      Research

      Assist the public and researchers with queries and research related to collections and exhibits; as approved or assigned by Director of Creative Services, may provide research assistance for outside projects.
      Events

      Provide assistance with special events, including those located both at AMA headquarters and off-site.
      Museum and operations

      On an as-needed basis, open and close the museum on a daily basis.
      On an as-needed basis, greet museum visitors, answer phones, sell merchandise and raffle tickets, process My Hall of Fame donations and AMA Memberships, conduct daily POS reconciliation/reporting.
      Assist with gift shop management.
      Knowledge, skills, abilities and working conditions
      Knowledge of museum operations and collections management and special event management
      Knowledge of motorcycle history
      Strong computer skills including software and specific collections management software
      Ability to manage multiple projects at once
      Excellent public rapport, and ability and desire to work with others
      Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs; bend, stoop, push/pull heavier objects
      Environment: required to stay outside; occasionally exposed to dust, fumes, noise
      Qualifications: Education, experience, licenses and certifications
      Bachelor’s degree in related field
      1–3 years of job-related experience
